WinterSpring bereavement support groups are typically advertised to run for 6 to 8 weeks. Our aim is to help guide you through the shadowlands of grief and to empower you to uncover your own inner resources and resilience. The 8-week program is designed to provide information about the natural trajectory of grief, as well as the different turbulent emotions that can seem chaotic and unrelenting. We provide tools to develop self understanding in a sacred space for sharing, healing and transformation to occur.
However, in order to meet the needs of our community, the groups run on a rolling program. This means that they run for 8-weeks, take a 1 or 2 week break and then run for another 8-weeks. Sometimes we need to swap out our facilitators so we do not burn them out. All our facilitators are highly valued companion volunteers who give of their time to be of service and we wish to support them also. This rolling program model enables people to continue with a group for as long as they need. This is another reason we have removed the potential barrier of a fee associated with our groups. We want you to be able to return to our groups as often as you feel the need to.
While groups can be joined after a new cycle has begun, we suggest that new grievers do not join a group after its 4th week in session. Historically we have found that it is better to wait a few weeks to start at the next 8-week timeframe. No one is left unsupported and we offer one-on-one companioning support during this short waiting time. As always, please call or Email to learn more about our groups and/or to register.
